Eckhard Seemann
My name is Eckhard Seemann and I live in the small town of Putlitz in the north west of Brandenburg, Germany.I was born in 1953 here in Putlitz. I used to be a well sinker and plumber for better part of my professional life. Mainly for health reasons I do not pursue this occupation anymore. In 2009 I became interested in pipe making through an acquaintance. I immediatly loved the idea of making my own pipes, not only for myself but possibly also as a profession. Working with different materials that can make up a pipe, but especially the wood, fascinates me.
The focus of my work is in pipes with a smooth surface that are comfortable to handle. For wood I only use briar plateau wood, extra-extra-dry from Corsica, Tuscany and Sardinia.
I combine the wooden pipe bowls with acrylic stems and different materials for applications like silver, stainless steel and gemstones.
